Jim Howard
Nose to the Old GrindstoneOctober 2011
Farmers always have dull tools (if they don't, they aren't working), and so do our customers. So it's no surprise to find an itinerant sharpener on premises. Jim Howard isn't actually itinerant--he lives in Los Alamos--but he has his van fitted out as a shop, so he could be.
He started a sharpening business when he retired in 1992, and he started coming to the market 5 or 6 years ago. The business has been Los Alamos Sharpening, but it is soon to change names, becoming High Country Sharpening. Jim can sharpen anything that's supposed to have an edge, so bring your dull scissors, knives, and pruners along with you next time you come to market.
