Our members are the state's Farmers' Markets. Markets are eligible to become members of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association, as long as they comply with the Association's definition of a farmers' market:

"A public market place where fresh foods from a defined local area are sold by the people who have grown, gathered, raised or caught them."

The benefits of membership include access to financial assistance, mentorship opportunities, technical assistance, networking and eligibility for the Association's insurance program. Member markets can use the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association logo in their advertising.

Farmers' markets and other interested parties are welcome to become members of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association. Payment of dues indicates that your market agrees to operate in compliance with the definitions set forth below.

Membership fees are paid annually in the spring (due by May 15th). Members are entitled to Association benefits including the opportunity to purchase liability insurance for their markets, obtain funding and receive training and other assistance.

Farmers' and growers' markets should comply with the following:
  1. They should be operated in accordance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations.
  2. The market's mission, rules and actions are consistent with the Purposes of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association, as listed in the By-Laws.
  3. Farmers' and growers' markets in a particular market area should not seek to erode the viability of other markets in the region, but rather to collaborate with these neighboring markets.
  4. Farmers and ranchers should be involved in the decision-making process of the market.
  5. Markets where crafts and other items are sold can be eligible as farmers' markets, as long as the total number of craft vendors does not exceed the total number of farmers and ranchers.

Interested parties are defined as individuals or organizations whose work is consistent with the mission of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association.

It is the intention of the Association that membership in the Association stands as an assurance of market integrity. We want consumers to be sure that when they go to a member farmers' or growers' market, they are purchasing foods from the farmers and ranchers that produced them. However, individual circumstances of markets will be taken into account when considering their application.

The dues are as follows:
Farmers' Markets with 10 or less growers, food processors and farm crafts = $10
Farmers' Markets with 11 to 25 growers, food processors and farm crafts = $25
Farmers' Markets with 26 to 50 growers, food processors and farm crafts = $50
Farmers' Markets with 51 or more growers, food processors and farm crafts = $100
Interested Parties and others = $25
