Baked Apples

Baked apples make a great fall treat. If you like them extra sweet, top with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Serves 4.

Ingredients:
4 tart green apples (or any slightly tart apple like a Winesap or Jonathon)
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Scoop out the core from the top of the apple, leaving a well. Do not cut all the way through. Stuff each apple with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter. Place in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake between 50-75 minutes (or until completely tender) and sugar begins to caramelize. Cool.
