FreshRx: Spring Cohort Launch

By April 2, 2026News

FreshRx is the NMFMA’s produce prescription program that provides incentives for select health clinic patients to complement their current medical care by providing nutritious, New Mexico grown produce at no charge. Patients who participate in the program will have access to recipes, cooking demos, and classes on managing diet-related illnesses. As we enter spring, the program is gearing up with renewed funding for three years.

The FreshRx spring cohort is launching this month at La Familia Medical Center in Santa Fe. The initial round of 22 patients will receive bags of fresh produce from the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). In mid-July, FreshRx will roll out at several additional partner clinics including El Centro Family Health (Las Vegas and Española), First Choice Community Health (Albuquerque), HMS (Silver City and Lordsburg), Taos Pueblo Community Health (Taos), and Lincoln County Medical Center (Rudidoso).

Next month, Cooking with Kids will provide a cooking demonstration at La Familia Medical Center, and patients will receive nutrition guidance, along with delicious and nutritious recipes to enjoy their local produce. Watch for a follow-up story on the Cooking with Kids event in our June newsletter.
