Protein-Plus Coming in September: Save on NM Grown Meats, Eggs, and Nuts

Coming next month, watch for the NMFMA’s new Protein-Plus program! Funded by the State of New Mexico during the 2026 legislative session, Protein-Plus will provide qualifying individuals with a 50% discount when buying local meat, nuts, and eggs from NM farmers and ranchers. There is a limit of $20 per transaction.

How Customers Qualify:

Customers must participate in at least one of the programs listed below and be residents of New Mexico.

How Protein-Plus Works:

  • Customers will get a Protein-Plus Loyalty Card by filling out a short form at the market’s information table, or with the retailer’s cashier.
  • Customers will shop for meat, nuts, and eggs as usual.
  • Shoppers will tell the vendor they have a Protein-Plus Loyalty Card.
  • Vendors will give the customer 50% off the total price, up to $20 per transaction.
  • Customers may shop with multiple vendors the same day.
  • There is a limit of $20 per transaction.

Eligible Products:  All food must be New Mexico grown. Beef, bison, lamb, poultry, pork, fish, sausage, beef sticks, jerky, pecans, pistachios, and eggs. 

Not eligible: Hot, ready-to-eat food, beans, peanuts, other legumes, and dairy.
