WIC & Senior Farmers’ Market Programs Open in July

Starting July 1, the WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Programs return for the season. Both programs provide benefits to families active with the WIC Program and to income eligible seniors/elders to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs and will operate through November 15, 2026. Participating customers who qualify will receive funds on their shopper card to be spent with participating farmers at markets and farm stands around the state. For more information on how the programs work, continue reading for helpful reminders from the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) that manages these programs.

WIC & Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) Reminders:

  1. Bring your shopper card. Check your balance HERE.
  2. Know your PIN.
  3. Shop at approved locations.
    1. For a list of approved locations, use the NMFMA’s “Find A Market” map and choose the WIC/Senior FMNP button to narrow down the markets.
  4. Use for approved items: benefits can be used for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey (seniors only).
  5. No cash or change: benefits cannot be exchanged for cash or change.
  6. Shop early and often!
